Interview With the Author

Interview With the Author

  • What inspired you to become an author?
I've enjoyed reading for as long as I can remember. When I was a kid taking long car rides, I borrrowed my Uncle Dave's "Hardy Boys" books and would read them for long stretches at a time. As I became older, my love of books grew and evolved to personal development. I'm so grateful for those authors who came before me and shared their life lessons. I felt a desire to contribute my own voice to help the next generation.
  • What is the most influential book you've read?
I believe a book entering your life can change the trajectory of your life - if you let it. Over the years I've had several which have had impacts on me; however, it was the first I read that started my love affair with reading for personal growth. "How to Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie was the first personal growth book I ever read. I picked it up because it was on my dad's bookshelf. I read it the summer before attending college. I actively applied the lessons and reaped an abundance of friends and became hooked on reading personal development.
  • What is your favorite activity to do in your free time?
    I love reading!
  • What is your favorite book genre to read?
    Personal development and self-help.
  • If you had the opportunity to meet any author, who would you meet?"
If I could go back in time, I'd love to meet Napoleon Hill, author of "Think and Grow Rich." Next would be co-authors of "The Go-Giver" Bob Burg and John David Mann. Between LinkedIn, e-mail, and phone conversations, I've been fortunate to connect wtih both of them.
  • What advice would you give to aspiring authors?
Just do it! Set a plan and begin. You can't write a book in a day. It requires slow and steady progress. If you keep working day in and day out while charting your progress, you'll find you are attracting a completed book into your life and the people who will help make it a reality.
  • What advice would you give to your 20-year-old self?
Read "Dad's Little Book of Wisdom!" I wrote this book as the answer to this question.
